Hi all,
The remainder of our time in York was spent exploring the Cliffords Tower castle before heading off for our group dinner for the evening. Once that was finished it was off on our ghost walk. Although I dont really buy into that kind of stuff, you have to give the guy credit, he really did know how to tell a story, and he had a real love of his city!!
After the walk was completed, we headed back to your hotel for an early night as Arnoux was suffering at the hands of the extreme pollen count!! The next morning we were glad we did, there were more than a few people nursing rather large hangovers, and we had a full day of driving on the coach ahead of us.
On our way up to the Scottish border we stopped off at Hadrians wall, the furthest northern remains of the Roman influence in this area, and the Angel of the North..... a large steel sculpture that is supposed to overlook the people of Northern England and protect them from invaders.
After a breif stop at the border for the compulsory touristy photos, it was off to Edinburgh. The 60 minute delay getting over the bridge at the Firth of Forth could not dampen our spirits since we had good old Vanilla Ice on the stereo to keep us company!!
After some time to freshen up in our hotel room it was down to dinner, before retiring to the bar for the evening. Me and a few of the other lads got hooked on the pub quiz game while the girls sat gossiping in the corner.... not surprisingly our answers made less and less sense as the night wore on and the beer kept flowing....
This morning we had a nice little sleep in before bording the coach to head back into the main city centre of Edinburgh. We have spent the first half of our free day investigating the Edinburgh Castle, and we are now about to head off to do a tour of the old underground... if we can get in that is, we have been warned that it gets pretty busy. So keep your fingers crossed people!!
Just in case we dont get back to a computer before wednesday, we just wanted to say a big shout out and a HUGE HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Blake, happy birthday buddy!!! Hope you have a great day!!
