Hi all, After dragging ourselves out of bed at a horrific 5am yesterday morning, we met up with our tour group and we were on our way. After a quick bus tour of London we headed north to Windsor. Breakfast was the top priority, but once that was taken care of it was off to Windsor Castle to catch up with our mate Liz.... sadly she was not in, I knew we should have called ahead!! Nevertheless we figured since we had already gone through the gates we may as well have a nosey around. We strolled around admiring how long it must have taken to put this place together, but we had no idea what was in store for us once we headed into the State Apartments. Room after room of art, jewells, weapons, and general splendour was enough to have us asking how much the rent was!! We couldnt agree on whether to have the Kings room or the Queens room.... so we decided to continue our journey. Unfortunately we were not allowed to take photos inside.... it really does have to be seen to be believed!!
From there it was back on our trusty coach with crazy Pomme driver Fitch and tour leader Canadian Dave (along with the 47 other travellers) and off to the University town of Oxford. We had some time to wander around under our own sail and enjoy a delicious milkshake from Moo Moos before our guided walking tour around the city. The place is completely dominated by the university, and it was amazing to hear the story of one of the oldest educational facilities in the world. We even got to check out a couple of places that were used as scenes in Harry Potter films!!!
Once the tour was concluded it was off to our hotel for a quick freshen up before heading off to dinner. Luckily when we got there it was happy hour, so a couple of beers and some blue concoction (that was far too tasty) later.... dinner was served. Then it was back to the hotel for an early night. This morning after breakfast we set sail for York. Canadian Dave took us on a walking tour of the city, and once we have finished here we are off to check out the museum before tonights dinner which is followed by an evening Ghost Walk tour.... no prizes for guessing which one of us was more interested in that idea!!!
