Hi all,
The next morning we we were off into the Scottish Highlands, but not before a stop off at the home of golf - the magnificent St Andrews Old Course. We were lucky enough to be able to watch people playing on the road hole, and a chance to visit the gift shop was not to be missed!! Back on the coach we headed for the hills.... which is where the fun began!! We were diverted to a route that they do not usually take with a coach full of tourists, and we were destined to find out why. First up was the quirky stone bridge that we could not get over, so with the bus perched half was across, we all piled out and walked across!! Next up was the now infamous 'Highland hike'. We came across a rather steep part of the mountain, and as the coach gradually got slower and slower, I think we all knew what lay ahead. Yep, we all piled out again and began our hike up the mountain.... there were a number of rather unimpressed tourists, thankfully we were not 2 of them. After all, if things like that didn't happen, what stories would we have to tell on our blog!!
Once we were back on the coach we were off to the Glenlivet Whiskey distillary for our guided tour. Photos were not permitted on the tour itself, just in case there was a 007 Whiskey spy in our midst, but they more than made up for it by providing us with free samples at the end, needless to say the coach ride to the hotel was a jolly one!!
After dinner at the hotel, we retired to the bar.... which is where we encountered 2 of the true highlights of the trip..... £1 pints, and the guitar playing fool named Terry!!! Thankfully the fact that the booze was so very cheap and so very plentiful, compensated for the fact that Terry was so very....very..... very untalented!!! The 3 hour set up that we watched was just not justified.... I cant imagine how he felt when the crowd collectively groaned at the news that he would be here till 11pm.... thank the lord above for outside places to sit where the torture was not quite so painfull!!!
The next morning I woke up with a doozie of a headache, Renee insists it was the fault of the £1 pint.... personally I blame Terry!!
